FoodPhoto.ai vs MenuPhotoAI (2026)

Disclosure: we make MenuPhotoAI, so we are biased. FoodPhoto.ai has published its own comparison of the two tools. This is ours. We list their real prices, say where they are the better choice, and answer the claims they make about us one by one.

By the MenuPhotoAI team. Competitor facts checked in October 2026. Sources and method.

Short answer

Both tools improve a photo of a real dish. MenuPhotoAI does one job: one credit is one photo, each photo includes 2 free re-edits, and your own plate and packaging are kept. FoodPhoto.ai is cheaper per photo and does more around the photo: menus, QR codes, social posts and short videos.

If you want a predictable result and a predictable price, start with MenuPhotoAI. The free test is larger, and it takes five minutes.

  • You expect to adjust results: MenuPhotoAI. 2 free re-edits per photo. On FoodPhoto.ai a revision uses more of your balance
  • You want to know exactly what you are buying: MenuPhotoAI. 1 credit is 1 photo. FoodPhoto.ai counts are estimates from a shared balance
  • You want a bigger free test: MenuPhotoAI. 5 free photos against 2 free previews. Both are watermarked
  • Lowest price per photo: FoodPhoto.ai. About $0.25 a photo on its $15 plan, against $1.56 on our $39 plan
  • You also want menus, QR codes, posts or video: FoodPhoto.ai. MenuPhotoAI makes photos and ad images only

What each tool does to your photo

Both tools use AI image models to make a new version of your photo. Neither retouches the original pixels.

FoodPhoto.ai says it fixes lighting, colour, background and crop "without inventing any food", and its terms say the service is meant to improve real photos. It also has a second path: its developer documentation says that when no photo is attached, it generates a new image in the chosen style. And its two top plans can turn a photo into a 5-second video.

MenuPhotoAI only works from a photo you upload. The models are told to keep the food itself and to change the light, the background, the surface, the framing and the props around the dish. Your own plate or branded container is kept by default on your first job.

No AI tool gets this right every time, ours included. Compare each result with the real dish before you publish it.

Things MenuPhotoAI has that we did not find at FoodPhoto.ai

  • 2 free re-edits per photo.
  • One credit for one photo, with the number of photos per plan stated exactly.
  • 5 free credits to test with, against 2 previews.
  • "Keep mine", which keeps your own plate, bowl and branded packaging in the shot.
  • A done-for-you service. Email the photos and our team returns them in 24 to 48 hours. The price is by quote.

What FoodPhoto.ai says about MenuPhotoAI, and what is true

FoodPhoto.ai has a page that compares the two tools. It reports scores from five restaurant operators on ten dishes. The page shows no test photos, no raw scores and no test date, so nobody can check the result. We have not run our own test for this page either, so we make no claim about whose photos look better. Here are its factual claims about our product.

Claims on the FoodPhoto.ai comparison page
Their claim about MenuPhotoAIWhat is true
It has no platform presets, so you must resize every photo by hand. Not right. Our delivery mode has an app picker: you choose Uber Eats, DoorDash, Just Eat or Grubhub, and the photo is made in that shape. You can also pick from 7 ratios by hand. One photo is made in one shape, so a second shape needs a second render.
Batch processing is limited on most plans. Not right. Every paid plan accepts up to 25 photos per upload. (The first free job is limited to 3 photos.)
Its pricing "varies".Our prices are public: $39, $49 and $89 a month, and packs at $49, $65 and $119. They are on our pricing page.
It is web-based only.Right. There is no iOS or Android app.
It mainly supports US platforms. Not right. The app picker covers Uber Eats, DoorDash and Grubhub, and also Just Eat in the UK.
Its colours are stronger and slightly less true to the dish.Their page shows no images to support this, and we have no data that settles it. Run one of your own photos through both tools and look.

Delivery apps

FoodPhoto.ai lists outputs for DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, Toast, Google Business and Instagram, and it has a free tool that resizes a photo to fixed sizes. MenuPhotoAI sets the shape when the photo is made: you pick Uber Eats, DoorDash, Just Eat or Grubhub.

Sizes are the easy part. The rules are what decide. Uber Eats asks that a photo accurately represents one menu item. DoorDash asks for photos that "reflect the actual item served, not an idealized or generic version", and says that photoshopping a creative background onto a photo is a cause for rejection.

Deliveroo is stricter. Its help page says "AI-generated images are not permitted on Deliveroo", and from 9 October 2026 its partner policy covers any image made in whole or in part with generative AI. We make the images; where you upload them is your decision, so read each platform's rules first. See Deliveroo and Just Eat.

Price: FoodPhoto.ai is much cheaper

On price there is no contest. FoodPhoto.ai charges $15 a month for about 60 photos, $30 for about 200, $60 for about 600 and $120 for about 2,000. MenuPhotoAI charges $39 for 25 photos, $49 for 50 and $89 for 100.

Its one-time packs are cheaper too: 120 photos for $39, against 100 photos for $119 on MenuPhotoAI. If you want to try a paid result with almost no risk, its 10 photos for $5 is hard to beat.

Three details are worth knowing before you compare the totals.

  • The photo counts are estimates. FoodPhoto.ai says photos, social posts, menus and videos all draw on one balance. Simple edits give more photos than the estimate; the highest quality and revisions give fewer.
  • There is a weekly cap. You can use at most half of the monthly plan in any 7 days. If you plan to shoot a whole menu in one afternoon, check that the plan is large enough.
  • Revisions are not free. On MenuPhotoAI each photo includes 2 free re-edits. If you tend to ask for a second version, that closes part of the gap. It does not close all of it.

Things FoodPhoto.ai has that MenuPhotoAI does not

  • Digital menus, PDFs and QR menus that you can update.
  • Social posts and campaigns from the same balance.
  • 5-second videos on its two top plans.
  • An iPhone app.
  • A course. 22 short video lessons, included with every plan.
  • A connection for AI assistants (an MCP server), if you work that way.
  • A site in six languages. The MenuPhotoAI app is in English.

Which one should you pick?

Pick MenuPhotoAI if you want a simple price per photo with re-edits included, a larger free test, and your own plates and packaging kept in the shot.

Pick FoodPhoto.ai if price per photo decides, if you need only a handful of photos, or if you want one tool that also makes your menu, QR code and social posts.

The honest test costs nothing:

  1. Pick one dish and take one photo of it.
  2. Sign up to MenuPhotoAI and upload it. You have 5 free photos and 2 free re-edits on each.
  3. Compare the result with the plate in front of you, at the small size a delivery app shows.
  4. If you want a second opinion, use one of the 2 free previews on FoodPhoto.ai.

Questions

Is FoodPhoto.ai cheaper than MenuPhotoAI?

Yes, by a wide margin. FoodPhoto.ai starts at $15 a month for about 60 photos, or $5 for a one-time pack of 10. MenuPhotoAI starts at $39 a month for 25 photos, or $49 for a one-time pack of 25.

Does FoodPhoto.ai have a free plan?

It gives 2 free previews per verified account, with a watermark and no card. MenuPhotoAI gives 5 free credits, also watermarked and with no card.

Do I have to resize MenuPhotoAI photos by hand for delivery apps?

No. The delivery mode has an app picker: choose Uber Eats, DoorDash, Just Eat or Grubhub and the photo is made in that shape. One photo is made in one shape, so a second shape needs a second render.

What about Deliveroo?

Deliveroo says AI-generated images are not permitted, and from 9 October 2026 its partner policy covers any image made in whole or in part with generative AI. Where you upload your photos is your decision, so read the policy first. See our guide to Deliveroo and Just Eat.

Which tool keeps the dish more accurate?

Both say they work from your real photo and keep the food. Neither has published a test that others can check. Try your own photo in both and compare each result with the real plate.

Who makes FoodPhoto.ai?

CodeAustral LLC, registered in Wyoming, with a development studio in Argentina. MenuPhotoAI is made by Paolo Rosson and Shivani Kanojia, who are food photographers.
