Fudie alternatives for restaurant photos (2026)

Disclosure: we make MenuPhotoAI, one of the alternatives on this page, so we are biased. We say where Fudie is still the right choice, because for many restaurants it is. And we list the alternatives with their real prices.

By the MenuPhotoAI team. Competitor facts checked in October 2026. Sources and method.

Short answer

The two usual reasons to look for a Fudie alternative are that Fudie has no free trial, and that some owners want a tool that only ever works from a real photo of the dish. MenuPhotoAI answers both: you test it free on your own photo, and it has no text-to-image mode.

Fudie remains a good choice if you want video and a low price per photo. We say so below.

  • Try before you pay: MenuPhotoAI. 5 free photos, no card
  • A tool that only works from your real photo: MenuPhotoAI. No text-to-image mode, and your own plate is kept
  • Free re-edits: MenuPhotoAI. 2 with every photo. On Fudie each variation costs a credit
  • Low monthly price, phone apps: FoodShot AI. $15 a month for 25 photos
  • Photos plus menus and QR codes: FoodPhoto.ai. From $15 a month
  • Stay with Fudie if: you want video, text-to-image and a low price per photo in one tool

Why people look for an alternative

These are the points that come up, taken from Fudie's own pages. None of them is a criticism of how its photos look. We have not tested that.

  • There is no free trial. Fudie's FAQ and terms say so. You pay before you see a result on your own dish. It offers a refund within 7 days, but not for credits you have already used.
  • Its batch tool makes dishes from text. The "Menu Launch" tool builds each image from the dish name and description, not from your photo. That is fast, but the picture is not your plate. On delivery apps this matters: see the rules below.
  • Each variation costs a credit. We found no free re-edits. On MenuPhotoAI each photo includes two.
  • The standard output is small. Fudie's help centre gives base sizes of 768 x 768, 614 x 768 and 1280 x 720. A larger file needs its upscale step, which costs a credit. DoorDash asks for at least 1400 x 800.
  • Outputs are deleted after 30 days. Download what you need.
  • No independent reviews yet. We found none on Trustpilot, G2 or Capterra. That is normal for a young product, but it means you rely on your own test.

Delivery apps: a real photo matters

Uber Eats asks that a photo accurately represents one menu item. DoorDash asks for real photos of the actual item, and for virtual brands it does not permit "evidently AI-generated images, heavily altered images, or images that create a misleading representation of the item". An image made from a text description is the kind of image those rules are aimed at. Fudie's own terms warn that outputs may not match the real food.

If you use Fudie for delivery apps, use its Enhance mode on a real photo, where it says the dish is kept, and not the text-based batch tool.

Deliveroo is stricter. Its help page says "AI-generated images are not permitted on Deliveroo", and from 9 October 2026 its partner policy covers any image made in whole or in part with generative AI. We make the images; where you upload them is your decision, so read each platform's rules first. See Deliveroo and Just Eat.

When Fudie is still the right choice

If these fit you, stay with Fudie.

  • Price per photo. $7.99 a month for 25 photos, $29 for 75, $79 for 300 and $199 for 900, and about 17% less on yearly billing. That is $0.22 to $0.39 a photo. MenuPhotoAI costs $0.89 to $1.56.
  • Credits roll over. Unused subscription credits carry forward for up to three billing cycles. On MenuPhotoAI and FoodShot AI, unused monthly credits are lost.
  • Video. Short clips of 3 to 15 seconds from a photo. MenuPhotoAI does not make video, and we found no video feature at FoodShot AI.
  • Export presets for Uber Eats, DoorDash, Instagram, Google Business and print.
  • Text-to-image. It can make an image of a dish from its name and description, which helps when a dish has no photo yet.
  • Brand profiles and team seats. It learns a look from 5 to 10 of your photos, and the larger plans add seats for a team.
  • An API on its top plan, and a site in 17 languages.

The alternatives, one by one

1. MenuPhotoAI (ours)

Best for
Menu and delivery photos that start from your real dish, with re-edits included
Price
Free: 5 credits. $39 a month for 25 photos, $49 for 50, $89 for 100. One-time packs from 25 for $49
What it does
Makes a new version of your photo: new light, background and surface. Built to keep the food and your own plate

MenuPhotoAI is narrower than Fudie on purpose. It has no text-to-image mode and no video. Every result starts from a photo you took, and the "Keep mine" setting keeps your own plate, bowl or branded packaging in the shot.

Each photo includes 2 free re-edits, where you describe the change in words. You can upload 25 photos at a time and give them all one look, or match a reference photo. A delivery mode makes the photo in the right shape for Uber Eats, DoorDash, Just Eat or Grubhub.

It costs clearly more per photo than Fudie. What you get for that is the free test, the re-edits and a tool with no text-to-image mode. No AI tool is perfect, so check each result against the real plate.

Choose it if

  • You want to see a result on your own dish before you pay
  • Your photos go on Uber Eats or DoorDash and must match what you serve
  • You want your own plates and packaging kept

Look elsewhere if

  • Price per photo decides
  • You need video or images from text
  • You need a mobile app

2. FoodShot AI

Best for
A low price with phone apps and creative control
Price
$15 a month for 25 photos, $45 for 100, $99 for 250. About 40% less on yearly billing
What it does
Restyles your photo. Its styles and edits can change the plate, surface and props
Website
foodshot.ai

FoodShot AI starts from a real photo, like MenuPhotoAI, and gives you far more control over the scene: more than 200 styles, a mode where you choose the surface and plate, and edits by text. It has iOS and Android apps and more than 50 poster templates.

It has no free tier on the web, and unused credits do not roll over. We compare it in detail in FoodShot AI vs MenuPhotoAI.

Choose it if

  • You work from your phone
  • You make posters and social images as well as menu photos

Look elsewhere if

  • You want a free test on the web
  • You want credits that roll over, as on Fudie

3. FoodPhoto.ai

Best for
One tool for photos, digital menus, QR codes and social posts
Price
$15 a month for about 60 photos. One-time packs from 10 photos for $5
What it does
Improves your real photo. It can also generate an image when no photo is attached
Website
foodphoto.ai

FoodPhoto.ai is the closest to Fudie in spirit: a low price and many outputs from one balance, including 5-second videos on its two top plans. Its photo counts are estimates, and you can use at most half of a monthly plan in any 7 days.

See FoodPhoto.ai vs MenuPhotoAI for the full comparison.

Choose it if

  • You want the lowest entry price: $5 for 10 photos
  • You also need a digital menu or QR code

Look elsewhere if

  • You want an exact number of photos for your money

4. MenuPhotoLab

Best for
Simple one-time packs with delivery-app exports
Price
Packs: 20 photos for $13, 50 for $25, 100 for $45. Plans: $29 a month for 50 photos, $79 for 300
What it does
Improves a real photo of your dish
Website
menuphotolab.com

MenuPhotoLab works from real photos and lists exports for DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub and Toast. It gives 5 free photos, and its packs are among the cheapest that are not tied to a subscription. It also sells a done-for-you photo shoot, from $299.

Choose it if

  • You want to pay once for a small menu
  • You want a free test and a low price together

Look elsewhere if

  • You need video or text-to-image, which Fudie has

5. Beautiful Food

Best for
Paying per photo with no subscription
Price
10 photos for $9.99, 50 for $39.99, 150 for $99.99. Credits do not expire
What it does
Improves a real photo in one of 19 styles, with up to 4 variations per credit
Website
trybeautifulfood.com

Beautiful Food has no subscription at all. You buy credits, and they do not expire. It gives 5 free credits to start. We found no feature for giving a whole menu one consistent look.

Choose it if

  • You add a few dishes a few times a year

Look elsewhere if

  • You need a whole menu to share one look

So, which one?

If you want to test on your own dish before you pay, or you want a tool that only works from a real photo, start with MenuPhotoAI. If you are happy with Fudie and you use its video or text-to-image, stay.

  1. Pick the one dish that sells best and take a photo of it.
  2. Sign up to MenuPhotoAI and upload it. You have 5 free photos and 2 free re-edits on each.
  3. Compare the result with what Fudie gave you, and with the real plate.
  4. Keep the one whose photo looks most like the dish at its best.

Questions

Does Fudie have a free trial?

No. Fudie's FAQ and terms say there is no free trial. Its cheapest plan is $7.99 a month for 25 photos. It offers a refund within 7 days of a purchase, but not for credits you have already used.

What is the cheapest alternative to Fudie?

Per photo, Fudie is already among the cheapest. FoodPhoto.ai sells a one-time pack of 10 photos for $5, and MenuPhotoLab sells 20 photos for $13. MenuPhotoAI costs more per photo: $39 a month for 25.

Which Fudie alternative only uses my real photos?

MenuPhotoAI has no text-to-image mode: every result starts from a photo you upload. MenuPhotoLab and Beautiful Food also work from real photos. Fudie and FoodPhoto.ai can also generate images without a photo.

Can I use Fudie images on Uber Eats and DoorDash?

Use its Enhance mode on a real photo. Uber Eats asks for an accurate photo of the item, and DoorDash does not permit evidently AI-generated or heavily altered images for virtual brands. An image made from a text description is a risk on both.

Does MenuPhotoAI make video like Fudie?

No. MenuPhotoAI makes photos and ad images. If you need video, stay with Fudie or look at FoodPhoto.ai.

What does Fudie say about MenuPhotoAI?

Fudie has its own comparison page. It says MenuPhotoAI does one job very well and lists what it lacks: video, text-to-image, brand profiles and team features. That list is correct.
